14–15% Body Fat — Female (DEXA Verified Examples)

This page groups DEXA results from 14.0 to 15.9 because neither integer has enough standalone entries to meet the site's three-entry threshold. On women this is an extremely lean band, seen mostly in physique competitors near a show or in some endurance athletes. Abdominal muscles are visible at rest, including the lower abs, and the obliques frame a narrow waist. Vascularity can show on the shoulders, arms, and lower abdomen. The face is angular with little cheek fullness, and the collarbones and hip bones are prominent. The gynoid storage sites, hips, glutes, and thighs, carry much less fat than at 20% and above, so the hip curve is muscle-shaped rather than soft. Breast tissue, which is partly fat, usually appears smaller than the same person's higher-fat photos. Energy availability and menstrual function are live physiological questions in this range for many women; that is an observation about the level, not guidance. The difference between 14 and 15 is inside DEXA's usual error bar, which is another reason to read them together. The sample is small.
