Forty percent is the upper end of the female range in this index. The abdomen is rounded, the waist is thick, and hips and thighs hold a large fat mass — a standard gynoid pattern at a high adipose fraction. Muscle shape is hard to read except in very trained upper backs or glutes. The face is full. This level appears in clinical and survey samples and is not rare. Comparison with 35% shows more midsection depth and less taper. Comparison with 38% is close enough that photos overlap.
