Twenty-nine percent body fat in men is a heavily padded torso with a large abdominal contour and thick flanks. Sitting produces multiple folds. Upper-body muscle, if present, is felt more than seen. The face and neck look full. Lower-body fat is substantial at the hips. This level is not rare in population data. Visual comparison with 25% shows a deeper midsection and less of a waist-to-chest gap. Comparison with 30% is small — one point is near the error band of many DEXA machines, so photographs in this pair of pages can overlap. What the scan still tells you is that a large share of body mass is adipose tissue; it does not by itself describe health, fitness, or how the person trains.
